What is obstruction?

Here is a great example of what a diamond “sees” when our guys are taking a photo. You can clearly see the dark lens of the camera reflecting in the ring. When it’s a precisely cut diamond the reflection of the camera lens is what casues the symmetrical ”arrows” seen in our still photos. Here is another article on why there are dark arrows in diamond photos.

this was really great information. I liked the examples you used on our site showing how the camera really can affect what you see. I have already used this example 3 or 4 times in the past week for clients who need visuals to help understand what I try to explain…i myself am a visual learner and appreciate this.
This is an excellent post! Celina and I had the opportunity to discuss this with one of my clients. It really helped out!
Good deal. Sometimes a non-pro friend will see the site on my computer and ask “what are those black parts?”
It does take ’splaining.
