weather.jpgSo, I’ve been completely glued to the Weather channel for the past 24 hours. All this rain from tropical depression Erin has already drenched us here in Houston. And now, this Dean the Hurricane is looking to be a bigger threat than originally expected and quite possibly to the Houston area. The last report is stating that due to another system in the Atlantic, that the chances of Dean speeding up and jumping directly into the Gulf, is quite a possibility. Due to the higher temperatures in our Gulf the course would then be North/Northwest, which would, in turn push it into the Northern Texas coast. Again, this is a long shot… but nevertheless, a possibility.

I’m sure plenty of Houstonians remember what an absolute MESS Rita was as far as evacuating the city. I’ve got my kitty’s on “Hurricane Alert”. Not being originally from Texas and never having experienced a Hurricane truly has me on edge. Needless to say, we’re packed and prepared if anything changes! Lots of bottled water, non perishables, and the necessities are at the top of the list. I’ve already gone and filled my car up with gas…just in case. Last time, you couldn’t get gas anywhere!

We’ll be keeping an eye on it all weekend and should know by Sunday/Monday if it really will impact us! Let’s truly hope for the best.

  1. Yep, Big Daddy has the boys putting up all the lawn chairs and loose things from the backyard that can fly. I sure hope it does not hit us.

  2. Not that we have any experience with Hurricane and tropical depressions here in Las Vegas but just thought i would mention that it rained for ten minutes =D

  3. I grew up in Cincinnati, not far from that tiny Ohio town where Jamie is from! I remember “running away” from tornado’s….but the farthest we ran was to the basement! HURRICANE’S are another story altogether! OH MY, last time when “Rita” was on the way to H-TOWN it was a mess! It took us about 9 hours to get to Austin (a 2.5 hour drive at most!). We had 4 dogs, 2 grown kids and our pregnant daughter-in-law. I hope “DEAN” has other plans that do NOT include HOUSTON! We will all be watching the weather station this weekend!

  4. Mark - ok, brag about it :) I understand it rains showgirls and card sharks out there.

  5. Well, it looks like we might luck out and not have to worry about Dean! Unless, of course, some unforseen turn North could leave us with little time to get out. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

  6. i am thinking postive thought…i am saying it will be a only a cloudy wed …the normal rain and lots of humidity Jamie…i am thinking “secret” thoughts…law of attraction and everything…I am getting a headache again— why did you tell me about that stuff?? I always have to keep a bottle of excedrine when it pops in to my head— b/c pain is the only thing I am attracting….

  7. Celina, you know if you’re focusing too much of something you’re going to attract it.

Everyone, you can now blame Celina if it heads our way! LOL :-)

  8. ok John you need to fix this…apparently jamie just posted her comment to my comment under my name…and well I look like hurricane psycho cybil
