Buckeyes Back to #1
After losses by formerly #1 LSU and the former #2 Cal Bears, the Buckeyes have clawed their way to the top of the AP Poll and the BCS rankings. A combination of an easy 48-3 win over outmatched Kent State on Saturday and losses by the top two teams in the poll vaulted the Buckeyes to #1 in the land of college football. Barring any unforseen bumps in the road, the Buckeyes have the ability to keep the #1 ranking and a shot at another national title…all they need to do is ‘win out’ the rest of their schedule. Ohio State has 5 games remaining this season (3 at home in Columbus), the biggest of which should be the annual clash with the Wolverine Cubs of Michigan (you remember them….the first team to lose to a Div. I-AA school in history). 5 for 5 should assure the Buckeyes a date to the National Championship in New Orleans, LA on January 7, 2008. If they can run the table, who they’ll dance with is still a mystery…only time will tell. BUT…if the season ended today, it would be the Buckeyes vs. Boston College. Based on the way things have played out this season, no one seems to be a lock to get to the title game—but the Buckeyes are looking awfully good—their defense is more stifling than an overzealous girlfriend, while their offense seems to be picking up steam.
Keep it up Buckeyes…your destiny is in your hands.
