Jaie and Wendy
My client Jaie was so sweet. He picked such a beautiful diamond and setting. Here is his story…
Wendy was sorta expecting a proposal soon, so I had to work fast. I decided that it would be best to do it just before my birthday or around it, so that I could use that as an excuse to take a trip somewhere. I threw her off by hinting that my proposal was time based and had to be later in the year (e.g. her birthday, which was our first date). I knew Wendy has a love for the ocean/beaches/nature. I also had promised Wendy back in 2000 (after our Senior Ball) that I would take her to a walk on the beach at night, and have a nice bonfire…but never got around to it…so here’s the barebones to my plan. As we are approaching the bonfire, I pull out a photobook I made on shutterfly a few days prior. It contained pictures from when we first met to the current, with the last page being, “October 21, Carmel Beach… and “to be continued…”. I then pointed at the picnic spot and the conversation went a little like this…

Jaie: “Hey…here’s a good spot to read the book.”
Wendy: “Huh? That’s not yours…”
Jaie: “No really, come here!”
Wendy: “No way, you’re kidding!”
I then started to settle down on the spot…
Wendy: “OMG, no way….”
What’s this…a message in a bottle? Hm…that’s not suspicious at all! The message inside read: “Wendy, I promised you that we would be together forever…plus a day…plus a half, if you were lucky. Today is your lucky day. Wendy, will you marry me?” I then proceeded to pull the ring out of the side pocket of my backpack (where it was hidden all day long!). After that she said yes! - Jaie & Wendy, CA
