KIM Stead was beaming with joy when her morning biscuit turned out to be a very Rich Tea. Sweet-toothed Kim, 49, sank her gnashes into a McVities Digestive biscuit and began to chew when she felt a hard lump. She was amazed to spit out a sparkling diamond among the crumbs. She said: “I’ve eaten a chocolate chip cookie before, but I’ve never heard of a diamond chip biscuit.” The mum of one from Newton Abbot in Devon believes the sparkler could have come loose from an earring, engagement ring - or even a body piercing.

A spokesman for United Biscuits, who own McVitie’s, apologised.  He said: “We have asked her to return the packet and object to us and we will immediately commence an investigation to understand the nature of the object.”
