Hi James,

Yes we are engaged now! We actually didn’t get the ring back from my sister until last weekend. When I came home on Monday, there was a sign on the door that said “Getting engaged is easy: Step 1- find the guy, Step 2- find the ring.” I went in and Armand was standing with a vase full of flowers for me, so step one wasn’t hard! I started to look around the apartment for the ring when I saw our cat, Chai, jump on the table to inspect the flowers. She had her collar on and it seemed to be sparkling! The ring was looped around her collar and when I took it off, Armand got down on his knee and officially proposed. It was such a romantic proposal and I was thrilled that Chai got to be a part of it. The ring is, of course, spectacular and I’ve been mesmerized by it (and my handsome fiance) ever since. I’ll attach a couple of pictures that we took on the day so you can see. Thanks for all of your help! Rose

Hi James…. Adam forwarded your message to me… So I’m attaching some pictures of our Italy trip…. The one in the Gondola is right before Adam proposed and the others are of Italy… (You’ll notice that the ring is in every pic after that.. LOL ) Our engagement was amazing, the whole thing! Like Adam said, I didn’t find out that we were going to Italy until we were at Check-in at the Airport. The ring is beautiful. I still catch myself just still staring at it… Thanks, Ashley

derek_n_belle.jpgHey James,

Sorry it has taken so long to respond to your email. I did propose on April 26th and everything went as planned. As for her reaction to the ring, I figured it would be best to read her words. So she wrote:

IT’S PERFECT!!! :)
When I used to close my eyes and picture the ring I would want, this by far surpasses it. I wake up jealous of myself every morning hehhehehehe I love it I love it I love it I love it I really really really honestly and truly love it! I still don’t know how Derek pulled off such a huge surprise, but it was perfect and everything I ever dreamed about… Thank you!!!

Thank you for all of your help. Sincerely, Derek

Yosuke the parrot rests in his cage at his home in Nagareyama ...FROM: YahooNews TOKYO - When Yosuke the parrot flew out of his cage and got lost, he did exactly what he had been taught — recite his name and address to a stranger willing to help.  Police rescued the African grey parrot two weeks ago from a neighbor’s roof in the city of Nagareyama, near Tokyo. After spending a night at the station, he was transferred to a nearby veterinary hospital while police searched for clues, local policeman Shinjiro Uemura said. He kept mum with the cops, but began chatting after a few days with the vet. “I’m Mr. Yosuke Nakamura,” the bird told the veterinarian, according to Uemura. The parrot also provided his full home address, down to the street number, and even entertained the hospital staff by singing songs. “We checked the address, and what do you know, a Nakamura family really lived there. So we told them we’ve found Yosuke,” Uemura said.

The Nakamura family told police they had been teaching the bird its name and address for about two years. But Yosuke apparently wasn’t keen on opening up to police officials. “I tried to be friendly and talked to him, but he completely ignored me,” Uemura said.

brian.jpgHi James,

Guess who’s engaged! Everything went great. I proposed while we were snorkeling (probably not the smartest idea, I know). I emerged from the water with the ring in hand and said “look what I found!” It took her a while to realize that I actually didn’t find it, and then she was too nervous to put it on until we got back on the beach. All in all it was a unforgettable day and trip. Thanks for all of your help in making this happen.

- Brian

“The proposal went great, and she didn’t suspect a thing. She loves the ring and has been showing it to all her friends this week. The first image is of her wearing the ring and the other is our ‘save the date’ photo.”

panasonic-150.jpgIn the Las Vegas International Consumer Electronics Show, Panasonic unveiled the largest HD Plasma screen TV in the world. The 150-inch plasma screen features an 8.84 million-pixel image resolution and is the equivalent of nine 50-inch sets with an effective viewing area of 11 feet. This is the next step up in Panasonics super sized TV sets as its predecessor maxes out at only 103-inches with a price tag of $70,000. The price of this new TV was not released at the show so it is likely to exceed the $100,000 mark. My house is not big enough to hold one of these…………YET!!!!

Hi James - I proposed on Sunday the 9th and I couldn’t have asked for it to go any better than it did. We were in Annapolis for the weekend to see my family who live on the Chesapeake Bay. During the afternoon I took her to Sandy Point State Park right on the bay and reminded her of our first date and for some reason how I had said that she was the kind of girl I could see being with forever! Thankfully that didn’t scare her away at the time… and I told her that I still felt the same way and got down on one knee next to the water and proposed. She said “Yes!” with a lot of tearful joy. It was cold and drizzling… but we didn’t want to leave. :-) Thanks again for all your help… she loves the stone and was very impressed with the quality. - Matthew & Maite, NJ

This is a great story. Trevor is from TX and a former student of John’s. Those two were surprised and happy to run into each other. And of course Trevor chose one of the world’s best diamonds for his lady.

James - I proposed on opening night of the newly renovated 1931 Fox Theater in Spokane (actually the new name is Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox). It was a black tie affair in a beautiful art deco theater, and the Spokane Symphony was performing that night. After everyone had taken their seats for the first half of the concert, I stopped Liz at the top of the Mezzanine to “pop the question.” She was completely surprised and excited.

The ring itself has been a huge hit! The first thing most women say is, “OMG, is that a carat?” One woman was overheard saying that it must have been at least carat and a half. This is a huge testament to the quality of “A-Cut-Above” Whiteflash diamonds, considering this is an 80 point stone. Everybody comments on how much it sparkles, and her mother even stated she “needs sunglasses” to look at it (hahaha)! I want to thank you, Brian Gavin and John Pollard for your “over-the-top” service, and for providing such an outstanding diamond and diamond buying experience. - Trevor & Liz, TX/WA

This may look like a scripted scene from an exciting high school football movie, but I assure you it is not. This young man’s name is Sam McGuffie and he is a senior at Cy-Fair High School located in Cypress, Tx (just down the street from me). I had the pleasure of watching this young athlete perform in a playoff game this past week and his athletic ability is nothing short of incredible. Sam has incredible leaping ability not to mention that he is agile and fast, cranking out the 40 yard dash in about 4.3 seconds. The touchdown clip that you see here was his seventh of the night. Sam has agreed to play football for the University of Michigan. We all know that they can really use the talent…

James - My fiance Robert proposed to me last Thursday, presenting me with the most beautiful diamond ring from Whiteflash.com. I would like you to know just how thrilled I was with the ring as it is absolutely stunning and the perfect fit. Robby and I attended a friend’s wedding over the weekend where I received many oohs and ahhs about my ring. One couple who is engaged even commented that they noticed my ring as soon as I entered the restaurant. I am so very pleased with the quality and cut. Please send my sincere thanks to the jeweler who made my ring, it is exactly what I hoped for. I feel so lucky to have Robby in my life and I consider my ring from Whiteflash.com to be the icing on the cake. Warm regards  - Tina & Rob, SC

James, Just wanted to let you know that we are engaged and are in the full planning stages of the wedding. MJ loves the ring and neither of us can stop looking at it. We’re aiming for the end of March, so we have our work cut out for us. I’ve attached the story of how the night went as well as some pictures of the 2 of us. I asked the question on the 2nd of November, but didn’t have a chance to get engagement pictures of us until last week. Enjoy. - Austen & MJ, TX

1120-austen-mj.jpg

Austen’s Perspective:

“We had talked about marriage for a month or two and had been to different stores to find rings that MJ liked. I found a ring online (www.whiteflash.com) with a beautiful diamond and ordered it, because I figured a high quality diamond like that wouldn’t last long on the market. I wasn’t really expecting to purchase a ring for another month, but I figured why not. (more…)

Dear Whiteflash - Tiffany and I had discussed getting promise rings to show our commitment and love for one another. We thought getting the same ring would be nice and started the search. We looked and looked and nothing really jumped out at us. The months went by and we didn’t really focus too much on the rings again. It wasn’t until August 10th, my 31st birthday, 6 months later when I had all but forgotten about the ring thing.

faberge-egg.jpgA newly discovered Faberge egg made for a top banking dynasty is expected to fetch up to nine million pounds (13 million euros, 18 million dollars) when it is sold in London next month, auction house Christie’s said Thursday. The egg was made for the Rothschild family in 1902 by Peter Carl Faberge and contains a diamond-encrusted cockerel which pops out every hour to flap its wings and nod its head while opening and shutting its beak and crowing. One of only three known examples featuring a clock and a mechanical figure, it is unusually large and is enamelled in pink with gold detailing. “The discovery of this masterpiece is the most exciting of my 40-year career,” said Anthony Philips, Christie’s international director of silver and Russian works of art. “We expect this remarkable object to be of profound interest to private collectors and institutions from around the world.” Faberge, a Russian jeweller whose name is synonymous with extravagant craftsmanship, made 50 eggs for the Russian royal family but is only known to have created 12 eggs to similar standards for private clients. The Rothschild egg will be auctioned on November 28 as part of a week of Russian art sales at Christie’s which is expected to attract a string of big bucks bids from wealthy Russian business people in London.

Pay attention guys, this is how you do it.  Get your lady to Paris if you can!

Hello James and Vera - I’m back in the states from my conference in N. Africa (Tunisia). Nicole (my fiancé) met me out there on week 2. It was tough getting her to come out at 2:30 am on a rainy Paris night! James, thanks again for making it happen in such a short time. You’re awesome and I value my relationship with Whiteflash! Your organization was highly recommended by my co-worker who is also a gemologist. I’m very pleased as is Nicole, who has been on cloud 9 ever since. - Akeem & Nicole, CA

James - Murad and I met in an unusual place-the airport! So I knew the proposal would be unusual, yet special. It was. Murad and I met at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport on May 19th, 2006. I’m originally from Kansas and was on my way to see a friend graduate from KU (Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk!). Murad was en route to Kansas from New Jersey for the same graduation. His flight stopped in Dallas, and that’s where our love blossomed. We began a long distance relationship before he moved to Dallas. On September 26th, 2007 we were engaged at my school. Murad pretended to lose his house keys and came to the school at which I work. When he came in my classroom, I was shocked. When he claimed to have lost his keys, I was annoyed. When he got down on one knee to propose, I was overjoyed. We are planning a spring 2009 wedding in Dallas, where we met. - Ashlea & Murad, TX

The time has finally arrived for sports cars to go green. Meet the Tesla Roadster. It is the very first all electric sports car that produces one tenth of the pollution and is six times more efficient than the average sports car. This mini machine produces 100% torque 100% of the time by using 4 electric motors, one on each wheel, that sends it quietly screaming down the street at a surprising 0-60mph in under 4 seconds. This non gas sipping beauty is as easy on the wallet as it is on the eyes getting the equivalent of 135mpg and running 245 miles between recharges which equates to less than 2 cents per mile. The Tesla Roadster still has more design needs that must be tended to so there is no price tag at present. I would expect to see the roadster being pitted against the crème de la crème of the sports car world on a Road & Track cover within the next 3-5 years.

What hauls six tons, has seating for a professional football offensive line, and is the ultimate toy for men of all ages? The international CXT, that’s what!!! The International CXT is, at present, the world’s largest production pickup truck towering over all other pickups with its cab at just under 10 feet tall, and for the right price it could be bullet proof. In addition to its massive weight and height, its length at only 21.5 feet will make it very difficult to park at your local grocery store.

Then again you could just park it on top of anything that is in your way. (more…)
